July 2009

We hope you are having a wonderful summer and that, if you haven't already had the chance, you are able to take some time to relax and enjoy the warmer weather and sunny days.

School is out for the summer here on the Hill, but that doesn't mean the work stops. Staff in the Development, Alumni, Admission, Finance and School Offices are busy getting ready for the start of the new school year in September. Should you need any assistance at all this summer, please give us a call. You can reach any of us by calling the school's main line at (506) 847-8224.

RNS Staff Changes

As the school prepares for September, 2009, there has been a reorganization of the office staff.

Sue Baxter has left her job as Director of Development. Nic Carhart will work with the Admission Department and provide support to the Development Office. Judy MacFarland will continue in her role as the Development and Alumni Affairs Coordinator and assume some additional duties.

We would like to thank Sue Baxter for her dedicated support.  We are grateful for her contribution.

Paul G. Kitchen
Head of School

Reunion Weekend 2009

We had another wonderful Reunion Weekend this past June with our largest turnout ever. The Class of '69 had the largest turnout for the weekend, while the Class of '79 had the largest turnout on the dance floor (they danced the night away!). Many thanks to the alumni and volunteers who helped make the weekend so much fun and such a huge success.

Click here to view the 2009 Reunion Weekend photos that have been added to our online photo gallery (and all the faces have been named!) If you have any great photos to share, we'd be happy to add them to the gallery. Please email photos to Nic Carhart at alumni@rns.cc .

By the way, Reunion Weekend 2010 will be held June 18-20, with special activities for classes ending with a '0 or a '5. Mark your calendars now!

132nd RNS Closing Ceremonies

On June 20th, we honoured and celebrated the efforts and talents of our school with the presentation of awards and recognition, and with the graduation of 48 students at this year's 132nd Closing Ceremonies.

In their valedictory remarks, Head Prefects Vivek Prabhu and Abigail White re-iterated what so many students before them have testified, that "this place has given us the ability to think for ourselves and the confidence to make decisions that could potentially impact this generation and generations to come. These qualities are essential for us to be successful in the next stage of our lives."

Click here to see photos from this year's Closing Ceremonies. To read the Head Prefects' full speech, the Head of School's remarks, the message from Mrs. Sylvia MacVey '75, Board Chair, the New Brunswick Telegraph Journal article and a list of the winners of this year's School Prizes, click here.
