In an endowment fund, the donation is preserved in perpetuity because the principal is invested and only the interest on the investment income may be spent. All personal endowment funds are invested in the permanent Rothesay Netherwood School Endowment. Professional investment managers for the endowment fund make sound and well diversified investments, including common and preferred stocks, corporate and government bonds, real estate, and cash equivalents. Endowments keep pace with inflation. In years during which there are excess earnings, the excess is retained in the endowment pool, ensuring growth for perpetuity.
