About RNS

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

At RNS, our concepts of diversity, equity, and inclusion are rooted in the idea of pluralism, which we define in the following way:

RNS is committed to creating a culture of mutual respect, understanding, and learning amongst people who self-identify in different ways. We strive to function with greater peace and productivity while preserving individuality. To promote social justice, special attention must be paid to those who are unfairly marginalized and we must change systems and structures that contribute to oppression.
The Rothesay Netherwood School Diversity Statement is as follows:

Diversity –  Is understanding, accepting, and valuing differences and similarities between people.

These can be along the dimensions of ancestry, culture, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, gender expression, language, physical and intellectual ability, race, religion, faith or ethical value system, sex, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status, as well as work style, life and work experience, job role and function, education and knowledge base, skill sets, thinking style, personality type, and age.

Additionally, the Rothesay Netherwood School Equity Statement is as follows:

Equity –  Is the fair, inclusive, and respectful treatment of all individuals with regard to individual differences and needs; a collaborative, supportive, and respectful environment that fosters and empowers the participation and contribution of all individuals.

Finally, the Rothesay Netherwood School Inclusion Statement is as follows:

Inclusion –  Is the act of enabling the participation and contribution of all individuals in a collaborative, supportive, safe, and respectful environment.
