The RNS FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS was a new initiative in the fall of 2017 designed to promote the Arts amongst youth in New Brunswick. Participants take part in workshops and demonstrate their skills in a showcase and gallery presentation. This year’s festival kicks off on Friday, September 28th with a keynote address and workshops throughout the day. Professional instructors will offer more than 20 different workshops in Drama, Art, Music, and Dance. The first day of the festival will culminate with a concert as part of the RNS Community Performance Series. Discounted tickets to see the O’Brien Family, who are also workshop leaders at the Festival, are available for Festival participants. Workshops will continue on Saturday, September 29th and will wrap up with a Gallery & Showcase followed by a closing ceremony. Students are encouraged to bring their own artworks for display as well as instruments to perform in the Showcase. There will also be an opportunity for students to meet university representatives and learn more about Fine Arts programs offered throughout the Maritime provinces.
The workshops this year will include graphic design, textiles, pottery, aboriginal art, pastels, henna design, drawing, song-writing, choral singing, harmonizing, music composition, music business, instrumental music, acting, directing, improv, musical theatre, stage combat, hip hop, Irish dance, tap, jazz and much, much more!
