Athletics

Our Programs

The athletic program at Rothesay Netherwood School is designed to accommodate every student and is an integral part of the daily routine.
We encourage all students to develop a healthy, active lifestyle and expect them to participate in physical activity for at least one hour every day. Students from grades 6 through 10 also participate in Physical & Health Education classes every other day for 85 minutes.

All students at Rothesay Netherwood School participate in Co-Curricular Activities; which runs either before class or at the end of the day. This year students will have the opportunity to participate in a wider range of activities which are listed below with a brief description of each activity. Students are asked to choose 1 activity per term and sign up on through the portal. With the many options available, students will still need to participate in 1 term of athletic based activity per year. Students who play on a competitive team will travel in the RNS Track Suit which can be purchased at TIES The Uniform Shop. Grade 12 students can also choose to take a term off of Co-Curricular activities in order to focus on their studies. The process and exemption form will be available from the Director of Athletics.

We have a vast selection of co-curricular activities that are non-competitive but physically demanding for the students who wish to be involved. Each student is encouraged to participate in a variety of different sports in order to gain an understanding of the nature of sport.

Our competitive teams, the RNS Riverhawks, represent our school in the Canadian Accredited Independent Schools (CAIS) championships, the Atlantic Conference of Independent Schools (ACIS) league, the New Brunswick Interscholastic Athletic Association (NBIAA), and also in our local Middle School league.
For sports schedules, please visit our Online Athletics Calendar on our school portal. We encourage parents, grandparents, alumni, and friends of the school to come out to the games and cheer on our student athletes.

There are three distinct athletic/co-curricular terms at RNS. All students will participate in one activity per term. The following links list all of the teams/co-curricular activities that we are offering during the school year. We are always trying to ensure that there is a place for all students and therefore this list may change slightly during the year.
