Meet Olivia Eustace '20

Next up, is two-year senior Olivia Eustace. Olivia is a strong two-way centerman from Riverview, New Brunswick. Olivia arrived at RNS in Grade 11 and seemed as if she had been part of the school community for years. Olivia is a skilled player who plays the game with tremendous speed and intensity. She is a hard-working student-athlete who strives for greatness in all she does. Enjoy her story!

I’ve been playing organized hockey since I was five years old,but my sister and I had been skating on the outdoor rink with our parents since we were two and four. Initially, I started playing hockey because I was inspired by watching the Olympics on TV. I was inspired by all the amazing female athletes I had the opportunity to watch and wanted to be just like them.

My greatest role model in hockey growing up was Haley Wickenheiser. She has accomplished so much in her career and it was inspiring to watch as a young player. I have also always been inspired by both my parents. They have sacrificed so much for my siblings and me to be able to pursue our dreams and I will be forever grateful. I don’t know if they knew this growing up, but having them at my games to watch me was one of the most important things.

I view my role on the team as helping other players achieve success. I enjoy being a playmaker and setting up players to score in a position where they may not have thought they could. As a leader on the team and I feel it is also my responsibility to help lift other players up and ensure they are at their best to contribute to the team’s success.

If my teammates or coaches were asked to describe me, I think they would say I am humble and hard working. I strive to be a good teammate and support girls on my team however I can.

My proudest moment so far during my time at RNS has been being a part of the cast for the Senior School Musical and winning a provincial rugby championship with my team last year.

I am excited to attend Dalhousie University in the Fall and play for the Tigers in the AUS. My plan is to study Sciences with hopes of pursuing a career in medicine down the road.

If I could say ‘Thank You’ to anyone for supporting me throughout my career it would be my parents. They have sacrificed so much for me and my siblings to pursue our dreams. I remember this one time in Bantam, our practice was cancelled because of a snowstorm. My Dad called me right away and said, “do you still want to practice”. He had called the rink and bought the ice so my sister and I could practice. He was willing to drive through a snowstorm so we could still get on the ice and do what we love. I will be forever grateful to them for all they have done for me and their support of my goals.

Coaches Kayla Blackmore and Derek McCallum extend a sincere thank you to Olivia for all the contributions she has made to the Prep Girls Hockey program throughout the years. They wish her all the best as she heads to Halifax to study Sciences and continue her playing career with the Tigers.

Welcome to the Prep Girls Hockey Alumni Family Olivia!
