A great place to play ... an even greater place to learn!
The boys’ basketball prep program for Grades 10-12 is dedicated to the overall development and growth of young student athletes getting prepared to play at the next level. Students who play basketball on the Prep Boys’ team receive an outstanding academic experience while playing basketball in many of the top rated Showcases & Tournaments in Canada and the US, as well as competing in the NPUBA League based out of Montreal, Quebec.

The boys’ program is a two-term sport that allows students to work on strength, conditioning, and skill development in the first term, with the Northern Pre-University Basketball Association (NPUBA) season predominately starting in the second term. The long-term goal of the program is to help student-athletes develop consistent habits to sustain a motivated, university caliber player who is prepared for the next level, both on the court and in the classroom.

The program also provides year-round, one-on-one mentoring, with training and certified coaching by a former university and professional basketball player. Students have access to strength conditioning coaching designed specifically for basketball. Students also maintain a personal portfolio to help monitor their progress toward individual academic and athletic goals.

Thank you to our showcase sponsors

Our sincere thanks to Scotiabank, presenting sponsor of the Milner Invitational, and to the World’s Oldest Basketball Court for sponsoring the banquet featuring guest speaker Carl English.
The RNS Prep Boys’ Basketball team is proud to host the inaugural Milner Invitational Tournament and Banquet (September 30th to October 2nd, 2022) in honour of Andrew Milner '17, who passed away tragically in a boating accident in 2019. The Milner Invitational includes top college and CÉGEP teams from across Atlantic Canada and Quebec.

The Milner Banquet on Saturday, October 1st  features an inspirational talk by Carl English, arguably Atlantic Canada’s most influential male basketball athlete. Carl’s inspirational story breaks down sport barriers and applies to any athlete trying to overcome what seem like insurmountable odds.
