Finance Manager
The Finance Manager is an important leader in the Business Office and provides essential financial and administrative support to ensure the accurate processing of transactions, adherence to school policies, and the overall financial health of Rothesay Netherwood School. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations, this role leads the Business Office team and oversees the School's daily financial operations.

Job Overview
The Finance Manager is an important leader in the Business Office and provides essential financial and administrative support to ensure the accurate processing of transactions, adherence to school policies, and the overall financial health of Rothesay Netherwood School. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations, this role leads the Business Office team and oversees the School's daily financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
Business Office Leadership
- Manage the Business Office team
- Create, review and optimize business office operational workflows and deliverables in collaboration with the Director of Finance and Operations
- Effectively lead the administrative personnel, including goal setting and performance management
- Oversee student billing and accounts, including tuition billing and fees
Tuition & Fee Management
- Accounts receivables collection in line with the School’s policies and procedures
- Resolve complex parental escalations and inquiries directly
Accounts Payable
- Review and approve invoices
- Implement automation and improve workflows to enhance efficiency
Payroll & Benefits
- Oversee the processing and accurate reporting of bi-weekly payroll for employees
- Ensure accurate and efficient benefit processing
Audit & Compliance
- Support the annual audit process by preparing necessary working papers
- Complete any other duties as assigned to facilitate effective and timely audit and compliance processes
Reporting & Reconciliations
- Prepare general ledger account reconciliations
- Ensure timely month-end close within established deadlines
Tax Remittance
- Preparing tax filings and slips, including but not limited to GST/HST, T4A, T2202 and childcare receipts
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
3–5 years of experience as an accounting manager or similar, ideally within an educational, non-profit setting or small to medium-sized organization
CPA or equivalent accounting designation strongly preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively lead a team through goal setting, performance management, and individual growth
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced school environment and handle multiple tasks with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality
Adaptable, strong multi-tasker, and proactive problem-solver who embraces varied work challenges
Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and experience with accounting software (e.g., Blackbaud FE NXT, Sage 300, or school-specific platforms)
