RNS Varsity Girls Host Inaugural NAPHA Tourney                                          December 05, 2011

RNS Varsity Girls Hockey hosted their first ever NAPHA McMaster Division tournament over the December 02-04 weekend.  The girls skated to a 1-2-1 record which began with a 1-1 tie vs Northwood School of Buffalo, NY.  Brittany Poitras found the back of the net on a nice give and go pass with Sam Bujold to open the scoring for the Riverhawks on a power play in the first period.  Brittany Dow also had a helper on the first goal.  Jane Henderson had another strong showing in net, particularly after Northwood School tied the game, early in the third period.  Bujold had the lone goal for RNS in the second game as the Riverhawks were defeated by Stanstead College of Quebec, 8-1, and Poitras had her second goal of the tournament in a 6-1 loss to the Rice Knights.  RNS controlled the play for much of their final game against Kings Edgehill School of Nova Scotia, as they recorded a 4-2 victory.  Bujold led all scorers with two goals and an assist, while Dow had a goal and an assist, and Poitras also found the back of the net.  Emma Brown ’14, Olivia Corkum, and Jessica Burbine each had assists to round out the scoring for the Riverhawks.
