Director of Enrolment Management

Rothesay Netherwood School (RNS) seeks a Director of Enrolment Management to further RNS’s Strategic Enrolment Strategy. Reporting to the Senior Director of Strategic Operations (SDSO), the successful candidate will have the overall responsibility of leading and managing the student recruitment, promotion and admission processes. The Director is responsible for aligning the enrolment strategy and plans with the school’s vision and strategic plan, communication, and financial plans. The Director of Enrolment is also responsible for monitoring and improving retention rates of current students.

The successful candidate will have sales experience, a history of and commitment to data-informed decision making, a commitment to customer service, proven attention to detail, knowledge of applicable policies and procedures, evidence of experience collaborating within a team environment, and familiarity with contemporary software used to support enrolment management functions.


Strategic Development

  • Working closely with the Leadership Team to manage the student recruitment program and determine annual and long term targets as relates to the school’s mission
  • Developing, monitoring, and actioning enrolment reports designed to respond to changing and emerging student markets
  • Developing projections for admissions, enrolment, and reporting trends to campus leadership
  • Working with the Assistant Head of School to help understand course sections, anticipated faculty needs, and workloads
  • Finding new and innovative ways to expand recruitment and retention efforts including, but not limited to, the use of technology and social media

Management Team Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of the Management Team
  • Lead the Enrolment Team in developing and recruitment / enrolment plans in support of the school’s strategic and operational goals
  • Oversee the admission process to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of policies and practices
  • Develop, analyze, and manage the budget for the Enrolment Team; direct, manage and support the Enrolment Team in the allocation of funds
  • As required, oversee and participate in developing and growing the team through hiring, evaluating, and training
  • Directly participate in recruitment efforts
  • Monitor, track and report on admissions and enrolment statistics:
    • Produce monthly reports for the Board of Directors and make presentations at Board meetings when requested
    • Manage the Scholarships and Bursaries program as Chair of the Committee
  • Oversee applicant selection process and make final approval for recommendation 
  • Build strong relationships with perspective families through consistent and regular communication and feedback
  • Work with the Director of Marketing and Communications to manage the creation and coordination of internal and external communications to ensure consistency of messaging and stewardship of the RNS brand
  • Liaise with the Director of Development to maximize recruitment and development opportunities with alumni, current, and prospective families
  • Designate appropriate Admission staff to travel to recruitment destinations to host meetings and presentations for prospective families 
  • Travel to educational fairs/events
  • Participate in the life of the school in order to possess a clear sense of the most suitable applicants for the school’s mission

Admissions Responsibilities

  • Meet with and provide tours to prospective families visiting the school
  • Engage educational agents and consultants to aid in recruitment of students
  • Manage and implement admission events
  • Interview students and families applying for admission to the school
  • Perform student and parent exit interviews, and annual surveys
  • Maintain and build relations with all school stakeholders, including prospective families, current families, alumni, local and international communities for recruitment purposes
  • Ensure all admission-related promotional tools are current and effective, including the website, prospectus, and supporting marketing collateral


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field (degree in other disciplines combined with relevant work experience may be substituted)
  • 5-7 years of work experience in sales including fiscal management and supervisory experience
  • Experience in Enrolment Management, Admissions or Financial Aid is an asset
  • Experience with Blackbaud or another CRM, financial modeling and analysis, and extensive experience with MS Office Suite and Google Drive applications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical, financial, and budget management skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage complex projects in a fast-paced environment maintaining attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent leadership, administrative, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to research and analyze financial information and make appropriate recommendations and projections
  • Strong interpersonal, time management, communication, and organizational skills
  • Proficient ability with spreadsheets, databases and CRM software, and accounting principles
  • General knowledge of enrolment management, admissions cycle, and financial aid/scholarships
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to motivate, build relationships and work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, parents, and alumni from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Experience in a public-service oriented position dealing with a culturally diverse clientele is an asset
  • Available for domestic and international travel, and flexible to work some evenings and weekends as required
  • Willingness to be involved in the school community
