RNS Girls’ Hockey Enjoy Successful Road Trip to New York State

 
Game 1:
Cait McCabe Leads Offense in 3-0 Victory over Trinity College School
 
Cait McCabe scored her first of two goals half way through the first frame when she banged home a Liz MacArthur rebound. McCabe added to the RNS lead when she scored on a wrap around, with the helper from Kahlan Gibson. Brittany Carroll also scored on a break away to secure the 3-0 victory for the Riverhawks. Marlene Boisonnault turned away 23 TCS to record her third shutout of the season.


Game 2:
Ridley College Scores Late Goal to Tie RNS 2-2
 
Jennifer Parker scored for Ridley College one minute into the first period to take the early lead. Maggie Gray responded for the Riverhawks, tipping a Brittany Poitras shot five hole to knot the score at 1-1 at the break. Liz MacArthur converted her own rebound with 5 minutes remaining in the second period to give RNS a 2-1 edge. Tessa MacFarlane found the back of the RNS net with 5 minutes remaining as the game ended in a 2-2 tie. Marlene Boissonault was impressive between the pipes, stopping 47 shots.
 

Game 3:
RNS Wins Defensive Battle Over Wyoming Seminary of Pennsylvania
 
Two very evenly matched teams faced off in the third game of the MacLeod division crossover weekend tournament, trading chances throughout the first two and a half periods, before Jessica Burbine found the top corner against Wyoming netminder Kelsey Atkinson. RNS would hold on to secure the 1-0 victory to remain undefeated at 2-0-1
Game 4:
Talented Nichols Academy of Buffalo Impressive in Victory over RNS
 
Madison Sansone recorded a hat trick to lead the Nicols Academy offense in an 8-0 victory over the Riverhawks. Six of the 8 goals by Nichols were scored on the power play, as RNS fought to contain a very physical Nichols team. Marlene Boissonault was busy in net for RNS, facing 51 shots.


Game 5:
RNS Drops 1-0 Decision to Gilmore Academy of Ohio to Finish Tourney 2-2-1
 
Gilmore Academy scored early in the first period, and played solid defense for the remainder of the game, to secure a 1-0 victory over the Riverhawks.
