RNS Camps - Lead STEAM Instructor

The RNS Camps Lead S.T.E.A.M. Instructor is responsible for helping to implement and teach the S.T.E.A.M. sessions to the campers. Lead instructors play a key role in creating and defining each of the programs at RNS Camps and take a visible leadership role during each camp session. They serve as the primary instructors for teaching fundamental skills and ensuring that the camp is run to the highest standards. Lead instructors should be passionate about their discipline and love working with young children. This is a 4-day camp running from Tuesday, July 2 to Friday, July 5 and Monday, July 8 to Thursday, July 11, 8:30am to 4:30pm daily. The Lead will work with an Assistant Leader and Junior Leader or Volunteer and will oversee a group of 20 campers. Applicants should have a university degree.

Lead Instructors are responsible for creating the curriculum, implementing, and teaching the sessions to the campers. Lead Instructors play a key role in creating and defining each of the programs at RNS Camps and take a visible leadership role during each camp session. They serve as the primary instructors for teaching fundamental skills and ensuring that the camp is run to the highest standards. Lead instructors should be passionate about their discipline and love working with young children. 

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as Lead Instructor, responsible for execution of daily lessons
  • Develop and lead the specific sessions
  • Communicate equipment and facility needs to camp leadership staff
  • Create and maintain collaborative relationships with Instructors
  • Ensure the welfare of campers and positive resolution of camper related issues by communication clearly and consistently with camp leadership staff
  • Provide top-level instruction and support campers in analyzing, evaluating, and structuring lessons
  • Develop the structure for the week including specific drills
  • Instructor and supervise during the camp
  • Manage and problem solve issues with campers and staff
  • Ensure the safety of all staff and campers
      Qualifications:
      • Experience working with youth in a structured environment, preferably in youth sports or camp
      • Compassionate, enthusiastic, patient, and hard working
      • Ability to manage team of Instructors and work as both part of a team and independently
      • Proven excellence in instructional abilities
      • Proven abilities in leading a team of instructors
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
      • Team-oriented, motivational, and creative
      • Energetic and enthusiastic
      • Demonstrates Effective problem-solving skills
      • Standard First Aid and CPR
